Biography
HOTCAKES is a London-based design consultancy, founded by George Saunders-Singer in 2006.
George was born in Berkshire in 1980, and was brought up in the seaside town of Minehead in Somerset. Engineering has been a domineering part of George’s life due to his Father’s scientific instrument making business and has developed a strong sense of style and aesthetics mainly thanks to his extensive travels around Europe in his childhood with his family.
After graduating with a BA in product design from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, George has carried out freelance work for a number of London-based design practices such as Mathmos Ltd, Totem Studio Ltd, and Tord Boontje Studio before starting his own company, HOTCAKES.
HOTCAKES mainly design bespoke contemporary chandeliers but have also designed eco friendly furniture, domestic lamps, candle holders and trophies. George has recently designed and made three large chandeliers for Conran’s Bluebird restaurant in West London, another for the large London showroom of Vitra and is currently working on one for a large chalet in Switzerland.
